Slot machines until 4 am
Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino has more than 300 slot machines, open from 10 am to 4 am, Monday to Sunday. The slots keep running long after The Ridge closes at 9 pm. The main casino floor is non-smoking, and so is Sidelines Lounge.
If you smoke, there is a separate, well-ventilated slot machine room at the back left corner of the casino, behind sliding glass doors. Throughout the casino, you are welcome to help yourself to coffee, tea and water at no charge. Other drinks can be bought from servers at your seat, so there is no need to leave the machine to order.
Table games from 2 pm
Table games at Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino run from 2 pm to 3 am, Monday to Sunday. The choice is Roulette, Blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold'em Poker. The number of tables and the table minimums are not published, so ask on the floor when you arrive.
The legal gambling age in Alberta is 18. Casino staff must check valid government-issued photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 25. Keep your ID with you after dinner rather than in the room safe.
Weekend poker from 7 pm
On Friday and Saturday nights, Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino runs No-Limit Texas Hold'em cash games from 7 pm. The finishing time is not published. For seats, stakes and the details of the evening, ask a Games Manager or a supervisor in the main pit. Before you leave home, you can reach the poker and table games line at 403-881-2832, or write to poker@stoneynakodaresort.com.
The Winner's Edge card
Winner's Edge is a casino loyalty program that covers the whole province. At Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino, enrolment is at the guest services desk or the Winner's Edge kiosk. Members must be 18 or older, and people enrolled in self-exclusion cannot become members. Each dollar wagered on slot machines earns 1 point.
Points are a small return on money already spent, not a reason to play. The more practical side of the card is the GameSense My Activity and Budgeting Tools. With them, members set spend and time limits and alerts, at the Winner's Edge kiosk in any Alberta casino or in their online account. Setting a limit before dinner keeps that decision away from the floor.
